Health & Nutrition
Trip Outside the Classroom!!!
My classmate, Lindsey and I are both interested in Heath & Nutrition.
We teamed up to go outside of school to do some more research on organic foods and GMOs. we found so much helpful information that we decided to make a presentation about it and go down to the middle school and present to the 8th grade classes. During the presentation we provided the students with a regular Oreo and a Organic Oreo. We had them do a blind taste test to see if they could guess the regular Oreo. most of the kids got it right but there were some outliers that guessed wrong. After they ate them we asked them that was the difference of each. It was a really interesting opportunity that I will hopefully be able to do it again.
THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN HEALTH AND NUTRITION
"Nutrition is the process by which living organisms take in and use food for the maintenance of life, growth, the functioning of organs and tissues and also the branch of science that studies these processes while Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and spiritual well being. Health is not merely freedom from disease and infirmity." (http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_difference_between_nutrition_and_health)

What is Junk Food?
"Junk food is a pejorative term for cheap food containing high levels of calories from sugar or fat with little fiber, protein, vitamins or minerals. Use of the term implies that a particular food has little nutritional value and contains excessive fat, sugar, salt, and calories (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junk_food).
If your curious on where to find the information for the fiber, protein and mineral count always look on the back of the food you are eating. There is a Nutrition label that provides you with that Vidal information.
How do you get protein? What are the benefits?
Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Hair is made of protein. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues. You use protein to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage. You can get protein by eating different meats and some granola bars are made with a boat load of protein, you just need to find the right ones. High protein foods includes chicken, cheese, nuts, salmon, steak, and many more. "Health benefits of proteins include production and smooth functioning of enzymes and hormones and provide cellular and muscular health. It facilitates molecular transportation, cell repair and regeneration and provides mechanical and structural support to the bones and skin(organicfacts.net/health-benefits/other/health-benefits-of-proteins.html)."
